Moving premises can be a stressful time  for the Office Manager / Responsible Person.  Here are some tips in planning your move: -

01

Plan ahead - have a realistic plan that is achievable. The acronym SMART is very useful in guiding your plan,  Allow enough time for decommissioning, transport, recommissioning and testing before going "Live".  Ensure  your IT Department are involved in planning and executing the move,

02

Choose an Experienced Removal company and IT Expert company,  Assess whether sensitive information / intellectual property needs protection with Non-Disclosure Agreements.

03

Manage expectations with the users and the removal experts,

04

To facilitate a seamless move, draw up a detailed seating plan for your new premises.  Ensure all users' specialised equipment is taken into account (e.g.: electric and manual adjustable standing desks).  Allow additional time for desk reassembly, especially where joined banks of desks are to be moved (IT equipment can only start to be recommissioned once these have been reassembled),

05

Have each user label their equipment and remove any valuable personal items,  Wireless keyboards and mice must be kept together with the workstation or their USB dongle,

06

Build in contingencies in your plan in case unforeseen circumstances suddenly occur.  Allow enough time for all the IT equipment to be thoroughly tested,
